The Velvet Teen

From The Jr. Science Club

The Velvet Teen is an American indie rock trio from Sonoma County, California.

History

The Velvet Teen was formed by Logan Whitehurst and Judah Nagler as 'The Secret Band.' As 'The Secret Band', they released Special Little Devil. They later changed their name to 'The Velvet Teen' and released a 6-song EP, Comasynthesis in 2000. In 2001, Josh Staples joined the band, and the trio recorded their second EP, The Great Beast February.

In 2002, they released their first full-length album, Out of the Fierce Parade, produced by Chris Walla, with artwork by Whitehurst.

Their second full-length album, Elysium, was released in 2004.

In 2004, 2 months before the release of Elysium, Whitehurst was diagnosed with brain cancer and left the band to focus on his treatment and his music as Logan Whitehurst & the Jr Science Club. Casey Deitz replaced him as the band's drummer.
