Prosthetic Brain

From The Jr. Science Club

Lyrics (How Does an Electrostatic Motor Work?)

I could be a politician
Roll my socks up and go fishing
Put my money in a box
and bury it forever.

I could be a television
Turn me on while you are fishing
Listen to the weatherman
and learn about the weather

Prosthetic brain
Running backwards in the rain
Like a train
Going back to where it came from
Empty now and lighter than it once was
A fine analogy.

I could be a mastodon
Run around with nothing on
Living like an icicle
A frozen stick of water

I could be a brontosaurus
Much too big to use the door-us
Making songs and chewing on
a frozen stick of water

Prosthetic brain
Running backwards in the rain
Like a train
Going back to where it came from 「Prosthetic brain」
Empty now and lighter than it once was 「Prosthetic brain」
A fine analogy.

This is my synaptic arti-fici-ali-ty you see

Prosthetic brain 「Prosthetic brain」
Running backwards in the rain
Like a train
Going back to where it came from 「Prosthetic brain」
Empty now and lighter than it once was 「Prosthetic brain」
A fine analogy.

For my prosthetic brain 「Locomotive, coal car, dining car, sleeping car」
Running backwards in the rain
Like a train
「Locomotive, coal car, dining car, sleeping car」 Going back to where it came from 「Prosthetic brain」

Empty now and lighter than it once was 「Prosthetic brain」
A fine analogy.

Trivia

  • Logan recorded this song once for How Does an Electrostatic Motor Work? as well as for Goodbye, My 4-Track. The main difference between the two is the added line "Provided by the Ace Prosthetic Brain Replacement Company" on the Goodbye, My 4-Track recording.
  • "Brontosaurus" was discovered in 1879. In 1903, it was argued that Brontosaurus was not sufficiently different from Apatosaurus and that the Brontosaurus genus should be folded into Apatosaurus. This argument gained ground up to around 2008 when it was declared that Brontosaurus was a junior synonym to Apatosaurus. So at the time of the recording, there was no such thing as a Brontosaurus and it's odd that Logan used "Brontosaurus" not "Apatosaurus". That said, in 2015, a new study arrived to reverse the decision. I can only assume that Emanuel Tschopp, Octavio Mateus, and Roger Benson were members of the Junior Science Club.
